Bernard Brentnall

Bernard Brentnall is one of the fertilizer sector's most experienced consultants. He started his career in the Fertilizer business in 1974 with British Sulphur Consultants where he first worked on regular journals and subsequently moved into the consultancy business. He worked for CRU International following its take-over of British Sulphur in 1986 and resigned as Chairman of British Sulphur Consultants in December 2003. He has been working with Fertilizer and Chemical Consultancy since June 2004. Bernard serves FCC as lead consultant on market feasibility reports, bankable documentation, strategy advice and presentations, including highest-level representation when projects (many in excess of US$500 million) reach then finance and syndication stage. He also contributes to FCC's special reports and briefing papers.

Frances Wollmer

After completing her Doctorate dissertation on asset valuation (Faculty of Economics, Manchester University, UK 1990), Frances undertook production and commodity market research at universities in the Netherlands and Australia. Between 1995 and 2003 she was employed by British Sulphur Consultants, with responsibility as Principal Consultant for market forecasting and analysis within the nitrogen sector. Frances has been a Director of FCC since January 2004 and during her career in the fertilizer & chemical industry has worked on project feasibility assignments for many of the ammonia and urea plants recently completed or under construction in the Middle East and elsewhere.

Bruce Neale

A founding director of FMB, Bruce is a leading authority on Potash fertilizers and has worked in the fertilizer sector since 1978. Before then, he was employed for several years by a London based Shipping Consultancy where he was responsible for forecasting international trade in Oil, Grains and Fertilizers amongst other products. He has also worked for a Market Research agency providing client studies in the UK industrial sector.

Frank Windmeijer

Frank is Professor of Econometrics at the University of Bristol, UK, and joint editor of The Econometrics Journal. His research interests include the econometrics of dynamic panel data models and count data. Several of his estimation procedures have been adopted by statistical and econometric software suppliers, such as ExpEnd ( a Gauss program for non-linear GMM estimation of exponential models with endogenous regressors for cross-section and panel data), and he provides expert advice to a number of major corporations. Since January 2004, Frank has acted as FCC's key consultant for data analysis and econometric modelling.

Kevin Hill

Kevin has been working in the fertilizer publishing and consulting business since 1979 and is a founding director of FMB. He is well known in the fertilizer industry as a respected authority on Nitrogen fertilizers. He has worked on a variety of consultancy projects and has represented worldwide in the capacity of expert witness. Prior to his entry into the fertilizer industry, he worked with a major London based shipping consultancy company.

Mike Smith

Mike worked as a Consultant Analyst at H. P. Drewry Shipping Consultants and at British Sulphur Corporation as the Editor of Sulphur magazine before joining FMB in 1983. In his capacity as Managing Editor, he has been responsible for establishing Fertilizer Focus as the leading international magazine within the fertilizer sector. Mike also contributes regularly to FMB’s other publications, notably Fertilizer Europe, and is increasingly involved in the organisation of FMB’s growing number of conferences.

Ralph Thawley

Ralph has been working in the fertilizer publishing and consultancy business since 1977. He is a founding director of FMB, and is well known in the fertilizer industry as a respected authority on the international sulphur business. He started his career in the sector as editor of Sulphur Magazine with British Sulphur Publishing.
